Wonderful site. James W Roberts did another page about Tom in 2010. It features a brief interview with Tom.

32 years ago..... this day. I can still remember it watching live on the German t.v. I was 10 years old and Formula 1 races live on telly was rare those day's. My late granddad phoned me and told me that there was a live coverage about the South African Grand Prix on a German tv station.

It was a beautiful race because it was Lauda's first win after his crash. On the 22-23th lap i saw Renzo Zorzi park his car on the site of the track. The fuel and the troubles he had to take off the life support hose (or how do you call that in English?)

It was a little bit funny to see this and i was not aware of wat was flashing below the screen of the tv. Later i saw the wreckage of two cars but didn't know wat happen there. And i didn't understand the German language those days.

After the race they said something about Tom Pryce and my granddad phoned me again to tell what has happen there. It was a shock to hear but i just didn't realize the cause of the accident.

A week later on Friday in the evening there was a program about the Dutch F1 driver Boy Haye who was followed by an Dutch tv crew that weekend and the Pryce incident was one of the subjects. They showed the accident from that angle we all know and the collission with Jacques Laffite. This was very shocking to see.

Besides that it is sad that we have lost such a talent. And i'm still glad that i 've seen him in real on the Dutch Grand Prix in 1976. He looks like very relaxed and easy going person.

R.I.P Tom Pryce and Frederik Janssen van Vuuren.

Bid for exclusive Formula One paddock passes with the Tom Pryce Memorial Trust.

http://www.tomprycememorial.com/

Thanks to the generosity of Bernie Ecclestone and the Formula One teams, the Tom Pryce Memorial Trust is able to offer an auction of Formula One paddock passes with team hospitality for two at each of the nine European Grands Prix.

For nine weeks from 9 February 2009 the Tom Pryce Memorial Trust will be auctioning one pair of passes for a Grand Prix each week, with all the money raised contributing towards a memorial to Tom Pryce in his home town of Ruthin, North Wales.

This was posted on the Autosport thread:-

(copy and paste)

Quick update. Although the Gala Dinner has been cancelled our Chairman, David Richards, has been pulling all the right strings and has succeeded in getting Bernie Ecclestone to donate 10 pairs of paddock passes for 10 separate Grand Prix, each to be sponsored/hosted by an F1 team!!! These will be auctioned online commencing end of January at weekly intervals. Should be launched at the Autosport Show on January 8th. We hope to raise at least £5k per pair! Look out for for the launch... Website will be

not live yet though.
I hope this will give all those following this thread some early Christmas cheer.
